Mission: Bridge Club consists of students who are interested in learning to play bridge. Bridge is a challenging card game that involves memory, critical thinking, strategy, and communication skills. Lessons are given at each meeting, and expert volunteers are ready to help individual players improve their understanding of the game. You do not need to know how to play before joining Bridge Club.
Club Meetings: Fridays 3:00 – 3:45 p.m. Those who want to stay and play longer are welcome to do so.
Membership: Open to all grades and all skill levels. This year there are approximately 60 club members. Some students have regular partners, but you do not need a partner to come and play.
Cost: There is no cost to students for the lessons or tournaments. Moreover, students receive bridge books, a tote bag, and a set of cards. For those who choose to play in the Omaha Youth Bridge Tournament in April, lunch is provided and cash prizes are awarded to winners.
Leadership: There are no club officers, but students who are in their second or third year of playing bridge assume leadership roles in helping newer players.
Additional information: This is the 7th year of Bridge Club at Mercy High School. G.K. and Rebecca Rhoads are teaching with the volunteer help of 3 expert bridge players from the local chapter of the American Contract Bridge League.
