Where Mercy Girls Become Women of Mercy

Giving Her Confidence to Lead

She works for one of North America’s largest construction and engineering organizations and she credits Mercy with giving her the confidence to lead and take on new challenges.

Julie Pentis Link ’02 is a University Recruiting Manager for Kiewit Corporation. She leads recruitment efforts for Kiewit’s Corporate Office and Infrastructure Groups, recruiting students to fill 700 plus positions annually from across the nation.

“Mercy provided me an environment that fostered the development and growth of my confidence. Being in an all-girls school, I felt I could be myself and I wasn’t afraid to speak up,” she shared.

Julie decided to go to Mercy after shadowing with a friend.

“The teachers and the students were incredibly welcoming. It felt like the right place for me,” she added.

During her time at Mercy she participated in many extracurricular activities especially the music program   She was a member of the Mercy High Singers, Show Choir, the Choir Cabinet and performed in musicals including Once Upon a Mattress and Godspell.

She attended Creighton University and earned a Bachelor’s degree in Business/Human Resources and Spanish in 2006. After graduation she worked at Aureus Group, a recruiting/staffing agency for seven years. She took night classes after work and got her Master’s in Management from Bellevue University. In 2013 she joined Kiewit, holding several positions eventually being promoted to her current job. Julie is expecting her first child in July with her husband Jake.

As an alumna, she stays connected with many of her Mercy Girl friends. She has participated in wine tasting events, volunteered for the phonathon, sung in the Alumnae Choir and she gives money to support the school.

“I think Mercy is wonderful school that truly helped set me up for success in my life and I encourage other alumna to get involved and get back when they can,” the grateful graduate said.
