Mission Week Surpasses Goal
Smashing all records, Mercy High School raised $18,000 during Mission Week March 20-24, to build mud huts for refugee families in Nigeria because, without an address, children cannot enroll in school. Sponsored by Student Council, the original goal was $12,000 to build 60 mud huts. The new total is the highest amount ever raised for Mission Week surpassing the 2016 campaign.
During the week various activities took place including a class Penny War, Glow Dance, DodgeBall tournament, T-shirt and dress-down day sales, and a special event called at SIESTA (Students in Earnest Supporting Tuition Assistance)-the student version of FIESTA-on Friday, March 24 complete with booths, games, raffle tickets and an auction of lunches provided by the teachers and staff.
