Sister Jeanne O’Rourke, RSM celebrated her golden jubilee with nearly 400 Mercy High School students on Friday, December 12. Sister Jeanne has spent nearly 20 of her 60 years as a Sister of Mercy ministering to the students at Mercy High School. Sisters of Mercy to Receive Cor Misericordiae Award
Inspired by the spirit of their founder Catherine McAuley, the Sisters of Mercy have enriched countless lives through service in education, health care, social services and much more. A passion for teaching is the primary reason they came to the Omaha area more than 150 years ago. In honor of that educational commitment, Mercy High School will recognize the order at its 2015 FIESTA on Feb. 7, 2015 with its Cor Misericordiae Award. Lorensen Named a Top High School Communicator
Alexandra Lorensen, a Mercy High School student, was honored recently as one of Omaha’s best and brightest aspiring high school communicators at a recognition event sponsored by the University of Nebraska-Lincoln College of Journalism and Mass Communications and The Omaha World-Herald.
The students were honored for their scholastic accomplishments. They were nominated by their high school teachers or guidance counselors.
This is the second year of the event, which recognizes high-achieving and motivated students who are interested in careers in advertising, broadcasting, journalism and public relations.
