During Mission Week in the spring, Mercy High School has several activities in order to raise funds and awareness of an international social justice issue. Together with other Mercy schools around the United States, last year we raised $22,000 to be used to provide scholarships for girls in developing nations to receive an education.
Activities during the week include a prayer service, dance, SIESTA, and Dodgeball. At the end of the week, our entire school gathers to see if they have met their goal. Every year, we have exceeded our goal!
In addition to raising money to support a very worthy cause, Mission Week provides a great way to connect with other Mercy schools to continue Catherine McAuley’s mission of service to the poor and women around the world. This year, we are raising money to build a Mercy school in Zambia.
