Our Media Center, housing the Archbishop Sheehan Library, is centered upon empowering students to be critical thinkers, enthusiastic readers, skillful researchers, and ethical users of information. A newly renovated space, it is a teaching and learning environment that is inviting, safe, flexible, and conducive to student learning. Our Media Center encourages the use of instructional technology to engage students and to improve learning, providing 24/7 access to digital information resources for the entire learning community.
With the latest in technology and dedicated space for collaboration our students enjoy all the benefits of a 21st Century learning environment. The use of flat screens and Apple TV’s provide the ability to make global connections. In addition the collaborative technologies within the flexible space allow students to work, interact, learn and grow together. This open and inviting atmosphere encourages innovation and creativity as students research, explore and study together or individually.
In our Media Center teachers are able to build and strengthen connections between student information and research needs, curricular content, learning outcomes, and information resources. With the ability to access a variety of resources, students can be seen working on their iPads, comfortably reading or utilizing university and public electronic libraries. Mercy’s Media Center is certainly a place where information is discovered, created and shared.
